Meet the kitty superstars who have amassed millions of followers on social media and are inspiring people with their amazing stories.

In recent years, the world of social media has been taken over by a new type of influencer: the catfluencer.
These feline stars have amassed millions of followers, and their popularity shows no signs of waning for a few reasons.
One, cats are incredibly popular pets. In the United States alone, there are an estimated 74 million pet cats. "Cat people" are a large and engaged audience who are always delighted to see cute kitty photos pop up on their time line.
Second, cats are naturally photogenic! Their expressive faces and playful antics make them ideal subjects for photoshoots and videos. As a result, cat influencers are able to constantly produce attention-capturing content.
Lastly, cats are often seen as being more endearing than human influencers. They don't strive to live aesthetically as many Instagramers do. They just go about life candidly which naturally results in cute content that brightens up peoples' days. The internet loves to see cats simply doing cat things like playing with toys, staring out windows, or lounging outside. It's an instant recipe for engagement.
If you're looking to add a few sprinkles of kitty-induced joy to your social media feeds, consider following these adorable cat superstars! Below are some of the most popular catfluencers on Instagram and what makes them stand out, inspiring millions of fans around the world with their stories and success.
Nala Cat
Nala is a Siamese-Tabby mix who currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular cat on the internet, with over 4.4 million followers on Instagram. Nala's popularity is due in part to her adorable photos and videos, which often feature her wearing costumes.
In addition to being a social media star, Nala is also a successful businesswoman! She has her own line of merchandise, which includes clothing, toys, and accessories. Nala has also been featured in commercials and has her own book called Living Your Best Life According to Nala Cat.
Grumpy Cat
Grumpy Cat became one of the most iconic cats in the world due to her permanently grumpy facial expression which was caused by a genetic condition called feline dwarfism. This condition caused her to have a shorter face and wider eyes than other cats. While her expression may have made her look unhappy, Grumpy Cat was actually a very sweet and loving cat!
Grumpy Cat's popularity led to a number of opportunities. She appeared in commercials, had her own book, and even starred in her own movie alongside Aubrey Plaza. Grumpy Cat also became a popular meme, and her image was often used to express disapproval or frustration. Grumpy Cat passed away in 2019, but her legacy lives on. There are still more than 2.6 million followers on her Instagram account which continues to post pictures in her memory.
Lil Bub
Born with a number of genetic mutations, Lil Bub had a permanently cheerful expression, large eyes, and a short stature. Despite her physical challenges, Lil Bub lived a happy life, bringing joy to her many friends and followers.
Lil Bub's unique appearance quickly made her a viral sensation, amassing her 2 million followers and sparking a crowdfunding project aimed at paying for Whole Genome Sequencing, a process that analyzes genetic information. Because of this crowdfunded test, it was discovered that "two distinct rare variants in her DNA" are responsible for some of Lil Bub's physical characteristics.
Lil Bub passed away in 2019 and, in her honor, her family established Lil Bub's Big Fund. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to supporting special needs pets by providing grants to animal welfare organizations.
Venus The Two Face Cat
Venus' appearance is the result of a rare genetic anomaly called chimerism which occurs when two embryos fuse together in the womb. This results in a single organism with two distinct sets of DNA. Venus is not the only chimera cat in the world, but her striking beauty makes her one of the most well-known. Her face is perfectly divided into two halves, each with its own distinct coloration and features. The left side of her face is black with a green eye, while the right side is ginger with a blue eye.
Although Venus was born the runt of her litter and was initially rejected by her mother, she now has 2.2 million followers on Instagram and is the face of a charity that donates to animal shelters every month.
Suki The Cat
Suki is an adventurous Bengal cat who has taken the internet by storm with videos showing her countless expeditions throughout the world. From hiking through the mountains to canoeing down rivers, Suki is always up for a challenge. Her and her owners' thirst for exploration has taken them to many breathtaking locations, and Suki's 1.8 million followers are always eager to see where she will end up next.
During her travels, Suki is joined by her human family as well as her husky sibling, Killua. The two often pose for videos together, making a cute and inspiring pair! Scrolling through Suki's account, you can see the fuzzy duo enjoying the outdoors through rain, snow, and shine. No matter the weather, Suki and her family are ready to brave through it all in search of their next great adventure.
Up and Coming Cat Influencers
These cats haven't yet hit 1 million followers, but they're on their way!
Sam
Sam is a quirky looking kitty with black facial markings resembling thick, raised eyebrows. These "eyebrows" stand out against Sam's otherwise all-white fur, and they make him appear constantly surprised. Paired with his wide, expressive eyes, Sam has an unforgettably adorable face that has captured the hearts of over 217,000 Instagram users.
Sam's owner, Amanda Collado, found him abandoned outside her Manhattan apartment and decided to take him. Originally, she was only planning on fostering Sam until he found his forever home. However, he quickly became an integral part of her family and has remained there ever since. According to her book titled Sam, the Cat with Eyebrows, Sam "has been featured in newspapers and magazines all over the world, and has put a lot of smiles on people's faces."
Gary The Cat
Gary is another outdoorsy and adventurous cat that is wowing his audience of 526,000 followers with photos of his picturesque travels. This Canadian cat can often be seen trekking through the snow, exploring the Rocky Mountains with his family, and documenting his exploits for the world to see!
If you are looking for a daily dose of inspiration and a reminder to embrace your own adventurous spirit, follow Gary! From snow-capped peaks to pristine lakes, Gary embraces every opportunity to explore the beauty of the natural world, even enjoying a good swim!
Gary's dauntless spirit is not only inspiring, but it also serves as a reminder that cats are capable of so much more than we often give them credit for. We must remember that even housecats are curious beings who crave stimulation and excitement!
Juno The Angry Cat
Like the famous Grumpy Cut, Juno is also known for his perpetually disgruntled expression! His smooshed nose and furrowed brow make it seem like Juno is constantly judging you, and his fans absolutely love it. He currently has 174,000 followers on Instagram, and his popularity has led to him being featured in a number of media outlets including The Huffington Post.
Juno is a Himalayan-Burmese mix and his owners mention that, when Juno was born, he was the only cat in the litter. They also say that they think his perpetual scowl mainly comes down to "his strange breed, because Juno is actually really chilled and not angry at all." Despite his mean appearance, Juno is a friendly cat who enjoys crawling into his humans' laps for chin scratches.
